Name Change (Adult or Minor Children)

Sometimes, you just want (or need) to change either your name or that of your minor child(ren). You can submit your request to the court as a separate procedure as long as you are not currently litigating either a divorce or an adoption case. Whether your name change is for yourself or your minor children, you are required to have your fingerprints taken for purposes of a background check. Keep in mind fingerprinting can take several weeks, depending on the law enforcement agency or service provider you used. Please, see below for a list of what is included in the name change package:

-       30 minute informational meeting (via phone or zoom)

-       Professionally drafted name change documents prepared within 1-4 business days

-       Notarization services included

-       3 free revisions

- Coordination of service of process (if applicable)

-       Filing fee waiver (subject to qualification)

-       Coordination of final hearing

-       Physical copies of all final documents delivered to your preferred location via USPS First Class Mail (1-5 business days)

-       Unlimited phone support during business hours

-       Case updates through email

*Optional: 2 certified copies of the Final Judgment delivered to your preferred location ($20 plus court and delivery fees to be determined upon signature of the Final Judgment)

* Expedited name change includes all of the above, but the turn-around time is 2 business days. Please, be advised that a final hearing date cannot be obtained unless the results of the background check has been received by the clerk of courts. Fingerprinting can take several weeks, depending on the law enforcement agency or service provider you used. Final Judgment can usually be expected during or shortly after the final hearing has occurred.
